BMW
ROCKINGHAM EXPERIENCE
In
2001 FT was commissioned to produce the single
seater school cars for the then Johnny Herbert Rockingham Experience
at the new Rockingham Oval.
FT designed and produced all the components for the 24 single
seaters in less than 6 months. These components covered all the
areas associated with motor racing technology; fabricated chassis
and suspension, cnc machined mounting plates, composite bodywork
and cast aluminium uprights and bellhousing.
The
single seater was based upon earlier versions of the school car
that as been used in India and Mexico. The single seater was designed
specifically for use in the demanding corporate driving environment.
It
can be adjusted for large and small drivers and is also mechanic
friendly. The majority of components are universal to cut down on
the number of spares, and by using road car proprietary components
the spares are also cheap and readily available.
Along
with the single seaters the company produced a two seater for Rockingham
using many of the components of the single seater but with a Ford
V6 to add to the experience. The single seater and two seater have
been in constant use, frequently being run constantly from 8 in
the morning to 8 at night. FT remains a supplier
to Rockingham for not only the spare parts for the cars, but in
supplying bespoke workshop equipment along with components for there
other activities.

DERONDA
While
displaying at the 2002 Autosport show FT was
set a design brief by Deronda to produce 'the next generation Lotus
7'.
The
F400 is designed using the latest racing car technology to enable
drivers to compete on the racetrack as well as to go out on the
public roads. FT has designed and produced all
components in house.
Although
no longer involved with the Deronda project, it still remains a
fantastic showcase of FT's skills and abilities. Taking this project
from inception to a fully operational car is something we are very
proud of.
